    Data science methodologies selection with hierarchical analytical process and personal construction theory

    The amount of data currently available for Strategic Decision Making is substantial; which is why Data Science find itself in apogee in various areas where it can be applied. Expertise respecting the areas’ methodologies is fundamental; which is why, the objective of this paper is to compare and ponder them, for which, Analytic Hierarchy Process, was utilized along with linguistic tags and Personal Construction Theory, with the purpose of establishing and prioritizing characteristics according to their degree of compliance in real validation cases. The sub-criteria were grouped in different levels, conforming a hierarchy for the present problem.     En esta tesis se caracterizan los procesos de explotación de información asociados a los problemas de inteligencia de negocio: descubrimiento de reglas de comportamiento, descubrimiento de grupos, descubrimiento de atributos significativos (atributos importantes para el entorno de negocio que se aplica), descubrimiento de reglas de pertenencia a grupos y ponderación de reglas de comportamiento o de pertenencia a grupos. Se identifican las tecnologías de sistemas inteligentes que pueden utilizarse para los procesos caracterizados, validando estos procesos a través de casos aceptados por la comunidad internacional. Se proponen las funcionalidades de un ambiente de explotación de información que integra las tecnologías identificadas. Este ambiente administra en forma unificada los distintos procesos explotación de información que requieren las tecnologías referenciadas.This PhD thesis proposes a characterization of data mining processes associated to the following business intelligence problems: behavior rules discovering, group discovering, significant attributes discovering, group belonging rules discovering, behavior rules and group belonging rules weighting. The intelligent systems technologies that may be used in the characterized data mining processes are identified. Processes are validated through cases of study accepted by international community. Data mining environment functionalities which integrates the intelligent systems technology identified is proposed.     En entornos cambiantes y altamente competitivos, la correcta toma de decisiones es clave en las organizaciones, quienes basan sus decisiones en gran parte a partir de los datos disponibles. El objetivo del presente trabajo presentar un modelo extendido que involucra el Proceso Analítico Jerárquico Difuso y la técnica de Teoría de la Construcción Personal para realizar un análisis comparativo de las metodologías de Ciencia de Datos CRISP-DM, Catalyst y MoProPEI. Siguiendo los pasos del modelo, se definieron los criterios y subcriterios a partir de la pericia de los expertos y estudios previos. Las metodologías fueron evaluadas a partir de dos casos de validación reales según el grado de completitud de los criterios y sub-criterios involucrados; donde se puedo identificar a MoProPEI como la metodología más robusta.     La capacidad de almacenamiento de datos generados por las organizaciones ha aumentado de manera significativa en las últimas décadas y poder analizarlos de manera adecuada, genera un factor estratégico para la Toma de Decisiones (TD). Se puede observar que en los últimos años se ha incrementado la cantidad de profesionales vinculados a la Ciencia de Datos (Data Science) y una de las habilidades requeridas es conocer y manejar a la perfección las metodologías disponibles y determinar cuál se adapta mejor para cada proyecto. Es por ello que al existir una diversidad de metodologías propuestas para el desarrollo de proyectos, en ocasiones la elección no es tarea sencilla, especialmente para los que se inician en el área.     A proposal of effort estimation method for information mining projects oriented to SMEs

    Software projects need to predict the cost and effort with its associated quantity of resources at the beginning of every project. Information Mining projects are not an exception to this requirement, particularly when they are required by Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). An existing Information Mining projects estimation method is not reliable for small-sized projects because it tends to overestimates the estimated efforts. Therefore, considering the characteristics of these projects developed with the CRISP-DM methodology, an estimation method oriented to SMEs is proposed in this paper. First, the main features of SMEs' projects are described and applied as cost drivers of the new method with the corresponding formula. Then this is validated by comparing its results to the existing estimation method using SMEs real projects.
